Day 3: Lincoln, Nebraska and Dirty Martini!

We made it to our target of Lincoln, Nebraska today! Beautiful day, nice rolling hills, no mechanical problems! Dinner together at a Thai place. Everyone is feeling good!

Mr Dirty Martini and his gleaming airstream trailer joined the caravan today. Mr. Martini, a seasoned burner and a leader of the Dusty Taint camp, is driving to Black Rock City from his home in Florida. The Dusty Taint will be one of our near neighbors in The City, and we'll be helping to host their Ginger Appreciation party on the playa. The Sentinel drove the truck and trailer today, so Wendy got to ride in the Martini trailer. Kirk drove Rusty for the third day straight, but Wendy may drive Rusty tomorrow.

Thanks to Calgon's suggestion and The Sentinel's speedy assistance, Sly and Fly have a new trailer hitch riser that we think will keep our trike tray from dragging on the ground every time we pull into...anywhere! We spent the morning sourcing the thingy and buying and installing a trailer hitch light that fell off yesterday. The new nets worked GREAT today so the cover shredding has almost stopped. We feel really good about our trike setup now and Sly's blood pressure can go down to normal.

After Sly and Fly caught up with Rusty and the rest of the crew, I asked what folks say when they see Rusty and the crew on the road, at a gas station, etc. The top question "are you a band?"

Tomorrow morning Wendy and Kirk want to do a little work on Rusty's cab floor (too hot!) before we get back on the road for more of the Great Plains. Tomorrow our target is Sidney, Nebraska. The next day will be our big challenge - scaling the Rockies on our way to Wyoming.
