Principle 5: Radical Self-Expression

Radical self-expression arises from the unique gifts of the individual. No one other than the individual or a collaborating group can determine its content. It is offered as a gift to others. In this spirit, the giver should respect the rights and liberties of the recipient.

Note: From August 22 - Sept 2 2025, The Rusty Iris crew will be out of communication while we participate in an event in Black Rock City, Nevada. The event annual event attracts 80,000 people who build a temporary city based on a series of ten principles. The purpose of the event is to re-think how we live and to take what we learn back to our everyday lives and communities. We will not mention the name of the event here, out of respect for the event's intellectual property.

We have scheduled a series of posts to be published during our absence. Each post will feature one of the ten principles, in which we have substituted the words "our community" for the name of the event - which we think is in spirit of what the event tries to accomplish. We hope you will participate by contemplating that principle and seeing whether applyng it to your everyday life would enrich your world and the world we share.
